Amazon’s Kindle Sells Out – Replacement for the Book?

I wanted to go to Amazon to purchase a new book and saw on the home page information about a new Amazon product that was sold out.  The product is called Kindle .  It is a like a PC tablet however it is really like an iPod for books.  You can download books from a wireless connection.  You can also read blogs and newspapers.  The cost of the publications are less as well.  It does not have a back lit screen so you can read it in the sunlight just like a paperback.  The size of the product is similar to that of a paperback.

The concept is strong.  You can also look up words.  You can save the page you were reading.  You can order new books.  You can read thousand’s of pages before you have to recharge the battery.  Here is an interview with Jeff Bezos and Charlie Rose.  Publishers might jump on board since they don’t have to guess at the first press runs for printed books.  Maybe now e-Books will get read.

A New York Times article is here.  And another comparison with Sony’s reader product is here.
