Federal Business Opportunities Evaluation – How to Start the Process with the Feds
If you are thinking about doing business with the Federal Government there are a few beginning steps that you must take in order to land those lucrative projects. Here are a few concepts to think about.
If you have a distinction, i.e. Small Business, Woman Owned Small Business, (WOSB) Small Disadvantaged Business, Hubzone Business or if have some sort of unique information technology there are massive opportunities available consider the opportunity. Also, if your business fits into one of these NAICS codes, then chances are the Federal Government can purchase your services.
My first recommendation is to determine if you are committed for at least a year to pursue the Federal Government. You will also want to dedicate a person full time to the effort, typically a sales or business development executive is the lead person.
Once you have determined that you have the resources to dedicate a person to the process you then will want to set aside funds for your certifications. Depending on your industry there are several different approaches, do it yourself, do it with assistance or pay someone to do it for you. If you choose the latter you will still have to spend time and effort to make sure the person getting you certified is doing it right.
