Microsoft Managing Our Contact Database on a Social Level
In this TechCrunch article they talk about how Microsoft does not listen to Generation Y. This is probably fairly accurate, Microsoft was slow to get on board with the Internet and has made an attempt to grab Yahoo! a while back. Making Outlook a social media tool would be interesting indeed. I have tons of names in Outlook that I don’t have in LinkedIn and Facebook. None of them are integrated, I’d love to do a merger/purge between them all.
What I think Microsoft does well is address the business and SOHO market in many facits. What they could do is socially enable Outlook and manage my database for me. I have so many duplicates in the Outlook database it drives me crazy. This duplication is transferred to my Palm device. Imagine if Outlook gave LinkedIn a run for their money and developed their own ad network? How much bigger of a database base is Outlook contacts than LinkedIn?
