Yahoo’s Fire Eagle GeoTargeting Advertisements to our Mobile Phones

Yahoo’s Fire Eagle is in Beta.  Why should you care?

Ready or not the GPS system on our cell phones are going to have a major impact to our mobile phone experience.  Imagine we are at a NYC pub and we want another beer and Budweiser sends us a coupon to our cell phone to be redemeed right there for a cold Budweiser, or a Mountain Dew in a Taco Bell  This could be very useful.  I discussed this with Stuart Elliot of the New York Times in an interview not long ago.

However if in the wrong hands this could also be easily abused.  Either way it is interesting to see how our landscape is changing quickly.  It probably won’t be a year or tow now until the mass media gets a hold of this to make a big stink about it.
